Associates Programme

The Associate programme is a ‘taster’ course for those wanting to know more the Arbours approach to working with individuals in severe distress through our residential communities and psychotherapy service, and about the application of psychoanalytic ideas to practice.

It may be taken termly (5 seminars) or as a complete year.

Successful applicants attend Clinical seminars and presentations by both trainee and experienced practitioners. In joining seminars with our Full and Foundation level trainees, there is an invaluable opportunity to discuss the application of key analytic ideas in a variety of contexts, including working with severe distress in both individual psychotherapy and in residential settings.

Suitable for:

  • Social workers, support workers, probation officers, community workers, CPN’s interested in the Arbours approach
  • CPD for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists
  • Those considering a counselling/psychotherapy training
  • Those  working with severely distressed individuals in residential settings
  • Those interested in the application of psychoanalytic ideas in practice

Time commitment:  5 termly seminars (Thursday evenings) and 2 Termly Discussion Groups (Saturday mornings)

Clinical placement experience may be negotiated upon request.
